FAQ

Would you be my neofriend?
Short answer is: No. Since I almost NEVER put my neomail to neofriend's only, I don't see a reason for them. I dislike the lag it causes when I'm trying to give an item to someone since my list is already fairly large so I made an arbitrary decision not to add anymore.

Do you use aim/msn/other chat program?
No, I've heard too many stories of people losing their accounts to people on them so i'd rather be paranoid/anti-social and keep my account intact. ;)

You're so rich, would you give me neopoints/items/weapons?
NO! This one bugs me the most. If you're walking down a sidewalk and someone gets out of a Lexus, do you ask them to give you anything? Have you written Bill Gates asking him for money? Have you asked the Walton family for price breaks or free items from Wal-Mart since they've got so much?

Do you work for Neopets®?
No, I'm just a player like almost everyone else on the site. I just happen to be decent at it and have been at it a long time. :)

Will you buy my _____?
Most likely not. The only things that would even slightly interest me would be eyrie/kass items not found in the shop of garets_eyrie_gallery and even then I'm in no hurry to complete it anymore so would rather wait until the prices drop on them instead of paying inflated prices now.

Did you make this site by yourself? Do you get paid for it?
Yes, every aspect of this site was done by one person: me (with the exception of fan art contributions and the test results on the golden scarab). I figure that this way I can personally vouch for the accuracy of anything you may see here. NO, I don't get paid for it. My only 'profit' for the time spent is the neopoints and so forth received from the generous people via the donations page.

How did Grephun get so strong?
Originally I trained on Krawk Island as long as i could (at the time, you could get dubloons from playing Deckswabber and Deckball) and saved my codestones for when he was too high a level for that so I ALWAYS kept him in a course. I also used the Lab Ray until he got to 700 Strength (and, in fact, started labbing again prior to the start of the last war until shortly after it ended). Coltzan's Shrine can give stats to weaker pets. Kitchen Quests are also helpful in building stats (you can do 10 of them a day). I was fortunate in that back when i was restocking a LOT, you were able to get random events in the shops. Neo has since changed that but back then it wasn't unusual for me to get 4-6 faerie quests a day while restocking. Neggs can also be used to raise stats although Grephun hasn't had too many of those. I'm too stingy to basically pay 90k per hp.

How many stats do you get a day?
Not as many as I would like. I'm STILL waiting for a training alternative to neggs/lab ray/kquests. As noted earlier, I'm too cheap to spend 90k per hit point so the only useful stats i get are gained by kquests, the lab, and the rare faerie quest.

How did you get so rich?
Again, I'll admit to having a bit of luck on my side. I discovered restocking VERY early on. I still remember looking up the items I was asked for by snow faerie or the chef and if they were expensive, i'd write them down and look for them during restocks. Another early np-maker for me was flat-u-less tablets when the WoE disease was bloaty belly. I'd buy them for 1500 and sell for 9k+. Since I devoted SO much time to restocking back then (restocks were at set times and there weren't shop bans), I got pretty wealthy fairly quickly. A lot of items for my arsenal were purchased then before they got horribly inflated. (Thyoras Tear comes to mind, I paid 900k for it)

How many nps do you make a day?
It really varies since i'm not as obsessed with making nps as i once was there are many days i won't make any (or will lose nps, in fact). I do pretty well on days I feel like earning, though. ;)

What's the best way to get nps?
There are many ways to make nps. You can play games, look for good deals in auctions, trade for things in the trading post, look for underpriced items with the shop wizard, restock, have a mall, etc. I, personally, made most of my nps from restocking, but people have made TONS of nps from other ways.

What shop do you restock in?
I've restocked in several. Pharmacy, bakery, the main food shop, chocolate factory, desert battle, and magic come to mind off the top of my head. Lately I'll stick to mainly either with magic or chocolate when i get the urge to restock since I'm used to them and it's so annoying trying to learn a new shop.

Have you ever been frozen?
Yes. I was frozen when my account was 5 weeks old for getting too wealthy, too quickly. I explained to tNt how i did it and was thawed a week later. I was locked out of my account when tNt changed my pass after I had been gotten caught by one of the first ever cookie grabbers on neo. It took 5 weeks to finally have my word reset and access to my account restored. I was frozen for 4 weeks for 'spamming' during my first (and only) BC entry. And I, along with several of top scorers during the meridell/darigan war, was frozen for safety's sake when my account was hacked.

I got frozen, what do I do?
All I can say is write to frozen@neopets.com, explain your situation (don't forget to include your username), be courteous, and be patient. Neo has grown SO MUCH recently that I'm certain their support department is pretty substantially backed up. (As a side note, if you DID cheat in some way, don't expect a reply)

Do you work or are you a student?
I work close to a 40-hour week. Neo is my recreation time and while some people say I'm too old to be on neo, I figure entertainment is entertainment. Many people plop down in front of a TV for hours when they get off work, I go on Neo. What's the difference?

How many hours a week do you spend on neopets?
When I first started playing Neo, I was pretty into it. I'd spend more time than I probably should have on the site, mainly restocking. Nowadays I'll spend anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours on it after work, but that's about it.

What is your battledome lineup?
I vary mine depending on my opponent. I'll change it for different 1-player/war opponents and back when I battled in 2-player it would change based on their stats, if we had battled before, etc.

Any tips on beating _________? "What's the best weapon for ___ amount?", "What should I add to this lineup?", "I've got a (species), what weapons should I get"?
All questions along those lines are really unanswerable. I don't know what you currently have, I don't know what your earning potential is, I don't know if you lab or not, I don't know if you're talking about for 1-player/war or 2-player, I don't know your particular battling style, and so on.
