Mario
Grigni Architect, PC
Qualifications:
-
Doctorate degree in Architecture from the Politecnico di
Torino, Italy (1963).
-
Registered Architect in the states of Michigan (1969) and North
Carolina (1981).
- Member of
the American Institute of Architects (1979).
- National
Council of Architectural Registration Boards certificate (1975).
- Familiar
with three-dimensional computer modeling and BIM (Building Information
Modeling).
- Fluent in
French, Italian, and English.
-
Educated in the metric system and in the study and appreciation of
contemporary architecture based on traditional principles.
I
offer a strong dual background: technical and artistic: I accurately understand
through observations, conversations and study very complex situations in both
fields. My solutions are usually innovative, because I look at most problems
from a very unique perspective.
History:
- My most recent
experience is in design and construction of one of a kind residences. This is
a field in which the use of an Architect is usually not required by law.
I found this extremely satisfying because I am sought for my ability to
satisfy the clients. For one of my residences I have received an Honor Award
from the local chapters of the American Institute of Architects.
- I pride myself
in designing residences that take advantage of the features of the site in
order to save energy and respect the natural environment. Sustainability and
"green" design have been the basis of good design well before the present
burocratic fad.
- In the
seventies and early eighties
I was a systems designer with a large international firm. I became
"expert" in the design and construction of high-rise residential buildings. Working
closely with many architectural firms I contributed to the layout of
high rise buildings all over the USA, from Niagara to Honolulu, from
Cincinnati to Corpus Christy. My experience included analyzing complex design and
construction productivity problems and design solutions.
-
Back in the sixties, during my internship in
Paris
and later, as I acquired my
USA
professional status in
Michigan
, I worked on a variety of building types under many different codes and building practices (banks, churches,
schools, offices).
Personal:
I have taken photos seriously since the early
50s and on commission during the 70s and 80s. Over the years I became an accomplished
fine art photographer.
