In 1996 the original owners sold the house. The new buyers, who read my description of it on this Web Page, told me that my description was totally inadequate. They E-mailed me the following description.

Description

Striking Contemporary design. A tall gallery brings diffused light to the displays, bisecting and uniting the living area. A separate circulation connects the private functions.

Formal Garden. Protected by a fence providing both privacy and security, blocking the view from the street. Lighted (as is the driveway approaching the entry) for evening use and security. Lockable gate provides access to the garden and the front entrance from the head of the driveway by the garage door. Flagstone and concrete pads provide the floor, except for the deck approaching the front entrance. Flowering plants, herbs, vegetables, and shrubbery are complimented by a water garden and divider walls. Access gained from main entrance to house, from driveway, and from door into utility room and half bath. Connects to deck which borders the south and southeast side of the house.

Garage. Oversized (24" X 24’) with ample capacity for two large vehicles. 12’ ceiling. Automatic double-width door. Entry from garage to north bedroom and to entry hall gaining access to balance of house. 300 square feet of storage space above garage, accessed by folding staircase.

Dining Room/Living Room. 17.25’ X 36’. faces rear of house with eastern exposure. Large windows overlook modest back yard rolling into virgin forest. Wooded area is part of a watershed on which no building may be done. Property borders on the watershed.

Stone fireplace is 9’ X 2.5’, gas-burning, open to both living and dining area. 8’ partitions separate this area from common passage and kitchen.

Kitchen. 18’ X 17.25’ kitchen features four gas burners with pop-up ventilation fan, a grill with a hood ventilation fan, oversized refrigerator/freezer, a combination microwave-convection-conventional oven, a conventional oven, and abundant cabinet areas. Double-sized island houses two sinks (2 disposals), dishwasher, and additional storage area. South wall features a large double-door storage area for extra sets of dishes, silver, wines, and similar items. Breakfast nook looks out on the garden. Pantry area includes desk and two large closets.

Master Suite. 12.5’ X 22’ bedroom is located in the southeast corner of the dwelling, separated from the rest of the home by a door which can remain open or closed. Tall windows bring in the light, yet offer privacy. Windows are recessed, accompanied by glass shelves for display of art objects. 2 large clothing closets feature two-level hanging rods. Double dressing areas, each 6.5’ X 11.25’ feature hanging space, 25 drawers, and 48 shelves for the storage of clothing. Master bath includes two lavatories with commodes and vanities, and lighted mirrors, each connecting with a bath area featuring an enclosed shower and a deep Jacuzzi tub nestled into a bay window overlooking the formal garden.

North Bedroom. With entries off the main hall, the garage, and the north/east deck, this 13.5 X 17.5’ bedroom has its own full bath with tub. Sliding glass doors supplement the skylights. (This was the ceramic shop)

Lower level. The full bath on this level serves two bedroom/office rooms connecting to a central hall. An additional room is used for storage or office support and connects to a guest room on the south end of the building. Both bedroom/office spaces open at ground level to a patio and the back yard, with access available through sliding doors.

Pool. Though not built with this rendition of this design, a 16’ X 30’ swimming pool fits comfortably on the south end of the property.
