Damage is always brawling, never lethal unless the Killing Blow maneuver is used.
Killing Blow: This allows the fighter to convert his normal brawling damage to lethal damage. Note the effect on TN for using a lethal melee attack.
Life of the Ch'i Master (addition):
Mastery of such eastern mysteries is not a quick nor easy accomplishment. It takes a life time of training and learning. To represent this, a characters level in Ch'i may not exceed his level in Academia- Eastern Philosophy.
Additionally complete confidence in one's abilities and philosophy is also required of the Ch'i Master. To represent this, the characters Ch'i level may not exceed his levels in Faith- Eastern Philosophy. Any reductions of Faith will lower the effective level of the Ch'i aptitude, i.e. they will roll a number of dice equal to reduced Faith level. Do not reduce the Ch'i aptitude itself however as it will be restored when (and if) the Faith is.
Ch'i Abilities:
Seize of The Pearl of Death (change):
TN: Varies
Strain: 2
Speed: Vamoose
Duration: Instant
The standard use of this ability is changed to deflect incoming projectiles at the listed TNs (Hexarcana page 78) for thrown or muscle powered (bows, crossbows) projectiles. Bullets may only be deflected if the character is wielding a suitable object (such as a shield, knife, or sword). Deflecting bullets is much harder, add 5 to the TN.
The character may attempt to catch rather than deflect a thrown or muscle powered projectile (and use a future action to throw it himself if desired), but takes a -2 to the roll to do so. If they succeed with a raise, he may immediately throw it back using his own STR values.
If deflecting with a weapon, he may add its DB to his Chi' roll. A weapon however may not be used to catch a projectile unless it was designed for that purpose.
Step Back to Ward Off the Monkey (change):
TN: 5
Strain: 1
Speed: Vamoose
Duration: Instant
This ability now adds its modifier (+2 per success) to his Dodge Vamoose roll.
