Sharon M. Bartell, has combined three art fields during her career: painter, illustrator and art educator. She fuses empathy and impressionism to create layered compositions which reveal the spirit of her subject matter. Her energetic/empathic watercolors are exhibited with several Western New York and Pennsylvania art groups. She enjoys plein air painting around the Lake Erie shoreline and on family camping trips, across the country - coast to coast and from Montana to Texas. In her studio, she creates intuitive compositions from abstract washes, volumes of sketchbooks and photo references. Her portfolio contains abstractions and impressionistic landscapes, florals, still-lifes and portraits. She works mainly in watercolor, pencil, ink and silk screen prints.
From 1980-1990s, Bartell was known in Western New York
advertising agencies as The Story Lady - specializing in TV
storyboards, caricatures and watercolor illustrations. She retired from
teaching art at

Commissions
The Story Lady illustrator has evolved into the creator of Life-Stories. These unique drawings are composed from 5-50 photographs, into a large, archival pencil composition, for people to celebrate family milestones,
as cherished gifts. By commission, size varies. E-mail for details.
