Christopher's First Doctoral Recital
On October 24, 2005,
Christopher gave his first doctoral recital.
He has been at the University of Kentucky
for a year now, studying with Dr. Skip Gray.
He has made a lot of progress.
Big Owl and Kathie,
along with Carrie and her mother,
and hundreds and hundreds of Christopher's friends,
all crowded into the Singletary Center's Recital Hall
to hear him play.
Kathie arrived early, and waited in the lobby.
Big Owl was there, too, but he is taking the picture.
Christopher takes the stage,
along with his accompanist, Tedrin Blair Lindsey.
Big Owl was so filled with fatherly pride
that he couldn't hold the camera still.
Both Christopher and Tedrin played divinely.
At the end of the recital, they both took a bow.
Big Owl still couldn't hold the camera still.
Afterwards, Chris greets some of his many admirers in the lobby.
Kathie is admiring Chris from a distance. She is proud.
Carrie's mom and her friend drove down from Louisville.
They are both fans of tuba playing, now.
Kathie is still admiring Chris.
Christopher and his accompanist Tedrin.
They are living proof that, when it comes to music-making,
size really doesn't matter...
After the recital, Christopher, Carrie, Big Owl, and Kathie,
along with co-workers Callie and Bethany,
all went to Buddy's to celebrate.
Big Owl is not in the picture because he is taking the picture.
Christopher is happy that the first recital of his doctoral program is
over.
