Actually, it was Kathie and Betsy who decided to do Halloween.
But Big Owl cooperated.
So did Susan, Phyllis, Christopher, and Carrie.
Even to the point of wearing costumes.
When he heard that Betsy was coming,
Azzie got excited and started jumping around,
scratching and biting stuff.
Barely recognizable in disguise,
Big Owl appeared as "Captain IU."
Phyllis found Big Owl's threat to
"cut somebody's balls off"vastly amusing,
since the other guests were ladies.
and Azzie has already been, you know, "fixed."
Carrie came as a blond Ninja,
having just decapitated her most bitter rival.
Susan came as a basketball referee, which she is.
Does that count?
Betsy came as a Model basketball player, which she isn't.
But son Rob was, so I guess that counts.
After much speculation on all sides,
the dinner guests finally agreed that the unidentified male guest
was actually Phyllis, cleverly disguised.
Brava, Phyllis, that counts!
Following Big Owl's lead,
Betsy offers to show her butt,
as Kathie hides her eyes.
But whose butt does she not want to see?
Phyllis struggles with self-control
as Carrie blithely affirms that
"1776" is a far better show than "Oklahoma."
Susan looks on with intense interest
as Christopher decides whether to drink
his own iced tea or Big Owl's Diet Pepsi.
Betsy explains that basketball players,
because of the physical exertion involved in playing the game,
are allowed to drink Diet Pepsi, Coca Cola, and coffee,
all at the same time.
Christopher prepares to attend the Arlington staff costume party
dressed as a black belt in Aikido karate, which he is.
Does that count?
My, he certainly has a big bo staff.
Christopher and Carrie prepare to attend the other party,
attired in full Japanese ceremonial regalia.
Halloween is really big over there.
Really.
