On August 9, 1995 at 4:23 A.M., Jerome John Garcia passed from this world into the next.
I first had the pleasure of experiencing Jerry's grace on stage in 1986. In 1995,
I celebrated my 10th year with Jerry and the band, traveling from Milwaukee to
Indianapolis, St. Louis, and Chicago, witnessing Jerry's last 5 shows. He is
a musical treasure, and a spiritual inspiration to many that followed him. Although
he never wanted to be a leader, he had the charisma that inspired so many of us to follow
him from state to state. It seems so strange that after all these shows, city after city,
mile after mile, it all has to end now. All we have left are memories and thousands of
hours of tapes that I will continue to treasure for a lifetime.
God bless you Jerry, and may your legacy continue here on earth for generations to come.
