Tri-Cities FBO 24x7 Access
Briefing
Effective August 6, 2009, the Tri-Cities FBO is operating on
reduced hours,
namely, 10 AM to 4 PM every day. This permanent change is a
cost-cutting measure.
To compensate, the Village has decided to give each FBO hangar tenant
around-the-clock access to the FBO hangar. In support of this,
the Village has given our club:
- A key to the FBO hangar, and
- The PIN code for the hangar alarm system, and
- A briefing on the hangar-unlock and hangar-lockup procedures, and
- A briefing on the acceptable practices regarding airplane movement in the hangar, and
- A briefing on how to operate the hangar doors.
The remarks below set out all these matters.
I would like to meet in person with each of you at the airport to
go over these procedures.
Please e-mail me to set up an appointment time for
your briefing.
Once you and I have briefed in person over the procedures,
I'll give you the codes you need to enter the building after hours.
Credentials
We do not share our hangar entry credentials with anyone outside our club.
This means we do not share our lockbox combination, nor our hangar key,
nor the alarm system PIN code. Please take reasonable steps to
safeguard our credentials.
Our Hangar Key
For our club, here's how we'll share our key. I have placed the key in
a lockbox fastened to the exterior west wall of the FBO hangar. The lockbox is protected by a
combination known only to us. To use the key, open the lockbox and then remove and use the key.
When you are done, put the key back and close the lockbox.
Hangar Unlock Procedure
- Unlock the glass lobby door.
- Go immediately to the white alarm control panel on the lobby wall.
Type in the alarm PIN
and then press the "1" key on the keypad. This deactivates the alarm system.
- Our key works every exterior lock on the building. It also works the door
from the lobby to the hangar proper.
- Do not leave the FBO building unlocked unattended.
Hangar Lockup Procedure
- Shut off all lights.
- Make sure all doors except the glass lobby door are closed and locked.
This includes the door from the lobby to the hangar proper.
- On the white alarm control panel, enter the PIN and then press the "2" key on the keypad.
This activates the alarm, with a 30-second grace period so you can get out of the building.
- Immediately exit through the glass lobby door and lock it.
- Put our key back in our lockbox!
Acceptable Airplane Movement Practices Inside the Hangar
- If an FBO attendant is on duty, let him do all airplane movement.
- Move only our airplane. Don't touch anyone else's.
- Do not use the tractor to move the airplane. Move the airplane only by hand.
- Go slowly and watch what you're doing. Don't hit anything!
Opening the Hangar Doors
-
The hangar door switches are on the hangar wall, immediately to the right,
inside the door from the lobby to the hangar proper.
- The lower row of three button sets operates the
doors themselves. The upper row of two button sets operates the pillars.
- Open all three doors whenever you move the airplane in or out.
- To open a door, press the "OPEN" button on its corresponding button set.
- To avoid tripping circuit breakers, start the doors moving about five
seconds apart from one another.
- Wait for doors to open completely before proceeding to raise the pillars.
- To raise a pillar, first disengage the locking pins at the pillar
base. Next, push pillar back and forth to make sure it swings freely.
Then press the "OPEN" button on the pillar's button set.
This will lift the pillar up out of the way.
- To close the doors, reverse the procedure: lower the pillars, lock them in place, then
close the doors, a few seconds apart from one another.
