Got a chance to see Barry Big B Brenner, last night at a haunt called the Puka Club in Long Beach, well actually Signal Hill. I had heard him briefly at the NAMM show a couple of years back; seeing him though in the raw and uninhibited setting of this downhome blues club was a treat...he plays, sings, slides and stomps with the best of them,with a crystal tone emanating from his two resos, Martin and 12-string axes...in the meantime, playing his heart out for no more than a dozen folks in the room, always the sign of a pro and veteran player, pouring out his soul as if it was a sold out concert hall...his version of "Come Into My Kitchen" was top notch and played with conviction,as all his repertorie is...truly a great experience...go to his MySpace page and see if his gig itinerary takes a turn towards your neighborhood...it'll be worth your time...Wayne Riker - Guitarist & Teacher

I saw BARRY "BIG B" BRENNER for the first time at the beginning of January, even though I had been listing some of his gigs in my Music News for a couple months before that. My friends had recommended him and assured me that I would like him, and they were right! As I write this, I am listening to some of the tunes on his MySpace site: good ol' fashioned blues guitar pickin' and a voice that conjures up visions of the Mississippi Delta.
