Some of my earliest and fondest memories from childhood were laying
in my bed on a summer evening with the window open next to me and listening to
train whistles in the distance. I couldn't sleep since it was still light outside,
but mom insisted I go to bed anyway. Like many children of the 50s and 60s, I played
with a full size Lionel train set which we always set up around the tree at Christmas.
In the last thirteen years, I have had the extraordinary opportunity to photograph
operational vintage steam and diesel locomotives used for recreational excursions
in Ohio. |
