Muenchy's 2007 Middle Handicapper Fall Invitational

[press release]
APPLETON, WI -- October 8th, 2007 - It's a wrap for Muenchy's Fall Invitational. Congratulations to Mike Milhaupt of Neenah for winning this year's league. Mike showed no mercy to the 12 player field by earning a record 37 points in the modified Stableford points format. The "Muenchy Trophy" was awarded at The StoneYard and the Ken Barr modifications were unveiled. It includes a shaft from Dan's pitching wedge. The wedge "took one to the knee", the week before.

Welcome to Dan's 3rd Annual Fall League. We will play a number of different courses in our 3-4 week schedule. Like last year, this year we will play a modified Stableford Scoring System. See below for the table showing the points awarded for each Par, Birdie, Bogie, etc. Since we're all middle handicappers, our zero line is a Bogey. Points will accumulate throughout the season. The goal is to end up with the most points. Any Guys from BTWB's are invited to play, but we only have room for the 1st 12 who commit. We'll have prizes and giveaways. If anyone has more for the prize pit, we could use more for hole prizes.

*TeeTimes are 4:15, 4:22, 4:29. Show up on time and be checked in. Dan will pair the teams each week.

09/10/06 (Reid Golf Course)

Cancelled due to weather

09/17/06 (Lake Breeze)

A rainy night with 62.1 °F and SSE 4 MPH winds. The pairings were:

Wittig(47) / Milhaupt(41) / Schaefer(47) / Dosch(40)
Monese(46) / Colon(46) / Rayden(45)
Muenchow(45) / Woods(43) / Barnes(48) / Arnold(49)

Nate won a $10 gift certificate at Prime Steer for the Closest to the Pin in 2 shots on #11. Nate also won a $10 gift certificate for the Darboy Corner store for his Longest Putt on #18. Since the "Snooze-you-lose" rule is in affect and Bret didn't show to win his prize, we shook dice for the 3rd Proxy and after about 10 rounds of 2-tie-all-tie, Kurt's 'lines' beat out Henry's 4 "ducks". This gave him an oil change at Action auto. Oh... they all also got a collectors Big Ten Magnet calendar too. We enjoyed some brews and food at Antler's Sports Bar in Winchester.

09/24/06 (Reid Golf Course)

An incredible night for golf with 84.2 °F and SSW 20.7 MPH with 26.5 gusts. The Random pairings for this week are:

4:15 - Arnold(48) / Dosch(40) / Milhaupt(40) / Colon (47)
4:22 - Woods(48) / Wittig(47) / Monese(45) / Schaefer(48)
4:29 - Muenchow(47) / Barnes(47) / Barr(43) / Rayden(44)

We had a ton of proxies tonight. #11's closest to the pin went to Nate and he won a $10 Granery gift certificate. #13's Longest Drive went to Kurt who won a Prime Steer $10 gift certificate. #14's Longest Putt went to Ken who won a cool tee shirt "I hit two good balls today, and I stepped on 1 rake".... Classic. #16's Closest to the Pin in 3 went to Henry who one an oil change at Action Auto. #17's Closest to the Pin went to Bret, but since Bret got lost between the golf course and the bar, we played the #'s game for the proxy so Mike Milhaupt took the prize. #18's Closest to the Pin in 2 went to Nate who won a Pitcher and Beer at Staxx in Kaukauna. We enjoyed some great food an brews at Pullman's in Appleton. Lot's of laughs had by all.

Quote of the game: George Monese Watch my cart go down the hill by itself on #18. Listen to him yelling "don't tip... don't tip... don't tip"... watch the cart start redirecting to the woods/culvert... watch george run down the hill with hand's flailing at full speed yelling "tip.... tip... tip".

10/01/05 (Royal St. Patricks)

A rainy/foggy night for golf with 64.4 °F and N 5.8 MPH winds. One of the few non-windy nights at Royal St. Patricks. The Random pairings for this week are:

4:15 - BSchaefer(49) / Barnes(42) / Nissen(38) / MSchaefer (??)
4:22 - Milhaupt(37) / Rayden(48) / Monese(38) / Colon(40)
4:29 - Muenchow(44) / Arnold(45) / Wittig(40) / Dosch(44)

Another big batch of proxies tonight. #1's longest drive went to Ted Arnold and he won a $10 Prime Steer gift certificate. #3's Closest to the Pin in 3 went to Nate Dosch who won a 1/2 dozen Maxfli "Fire" golf balls. #4's Closest to the Pin went to Mike Milhaupt who won a "The good guys always wear the white hat" Titleist Hat. #5's Closest to the Pin in 2 went to Henry Colon who one a $25 gift certificate at Conkey's. #8's Closest to the Pin went to Nate Dosch who won a Darboy Club Sunday Brunch gift certificate. #9's Longest Putt went to Mike Milhaupt $25 gift certificate at Ridgeway. A few got lost on the way to the StoneYard, but most of us enjoyed a great meatloaf dinner and all of us enjoyed 2-4-1 drinks. Note to self... need to hit this place more often.

10/08/05 (Eagle Creek)

On the way to the course it was raining and questionable if we'd get out tonight. We had a 30 minute delay but did get out with a shotgun start, The temps went from 75.2 °F down to 64.4 °F while we played. The winds were out of the SW with 19.6 mph and 26.5 mph gusts. After the clouds moved out, it actually turned out to be a nice night for golf. The Random pairings for this week are:

4:45 - Wittig(42) / Barnes(50) / Nissen(46) / Monese (49)
4:45 - Milhaupt(45) / KRoble(41) / CHalley(41)
4:45 - Muenchow(46) / Colon(47) / GRuhley(50)

#1's Closest to the Pin in 2 went to Cliff Halley (guest) and he won a $10 Darboy Convenience Store certificate. #3's Closest to the Pin went to Kyle Roble (guest) who won a $5.00 Gift Certificate to Chili's. He stuck it to about 10 inches. #5's Closest to the Pin went to Cliff Halley (guest) who won a Chicken dinner at Van Able's. #9's Longest Drive went to Dan Muenchow who one a Titleist Breast Cancer Hat which he donated to the Waitress. Lots of guys were out of town this week, and a few got chased away due to the rain. Some guys went to StoneYard for some brews and food, Since the winner, Mike Milhaupt ran away with the Muenchy Trophy by the start of last week, Dan had a one-night-only stableford for tonight. Guests, Kyle Roble and Cliff Halley tied with +9. It could be a bit of home-cooking (EC is their home course), but both guys had a birdie and shot 41's. They did the #'s game to break the tie to take home the sleeve of golf balls.
