Muenchy's 2008 Middle Handicapper Fall Invitational
APPLETON, WI -- September 30th, 2008 - Congratulations to Mike Woods of Appleton for winning this year's Muenchy's Fall Invitational. Woods edged out the other players by consistently avoiding mistakes week after week; he ended the season with a total of 15 points in the modified Stableford points format. Muenchy was injured during the 9/29 round, so the league was cut short by a week. The participants appreciate the time and effort he put into the league.

Welcome to Dan's 4th Annual Fall Invitational League. We will play a number of different courses in our 4 week schedule. We'll play a modified
Stableford scoring system. See below for the table showing the points awarded for
each Par, Birdie, Bogie, etc. Since most of us are middle handicappers, our zero line is a Bogey.
Points will accumulate throughout the season; the goal is to end up with the most points.

A perfect golf night with 64.9 °F and Calm 6.3 MPH winds. We moved the game to Tuesday this week because the Packer's Season
and home opener against the Vikings was on Monday. This was Aaron Rodgers' first game starting, the Packers won 24-19. The
pairings this week were: Schaefer(45) / Milhaupt(46) / Woods(41) / Ruhle(44) Koplitz(37) / Muenchow(50) / Monese(43) / Wittig(47) Mike Woods won a $5 gift certificate at Primer 2 Restaurant for the Closest to the Pin in 2 shots on #2. Mike Woods also won a $5 gift certificate for the Checkered Flag for his Closest to the Pin in 2 shots on #3. Mike Woods also won a $5 gift certificate for Tootsies for his Longest Drive on #5. Andy Wittig won an Arby's Combo meal for his Longest Putt (8 feet... no, was it 8 inches?). We enjoyed some brews and free happy hour wings at Pullman's in Appleton. Happy Birthday to Gary. He was heading home for some "Cherry Pie". |

Another perfect golf night with 59.1 °F and Calm no winds. The pairings this week were: Monese(38) / Milhaupt(41) / Woods(44) / Wittig(46) / Colon (42) Koplitz(42) / Muenchow(43) / Ruhle(46) / Schaefer(42) George Monese won a 9 hole pass at High Cliff for his Long drive on #2. Terry Koplitz won a $5 gift certificate at Pioneer II restaurant for his Closest to the Pin in 2 shots on #5. Bret Schaefer took the Longest Putt on #6 and the Longest Putt on #8 but got lost on the way to Route 15 so we shook dice for the prizes. Mike Milhaupt won an Arby's Combo meal and $5 gift certificate for Tootsies restaurant. Andy Wittig won free pitchers at The StoneYard and The Well. Andy Wittig won 2 Sandwiches at Bates BBQ for his Closest to the Pin in 3 shots on #7. The group headed to Route 15 for brews, burgers, pizzas, BLT's, and Wendy. |

Another perfect golf night with 77.2 °F and Calm 9.4 mph winds, No complaints on the $9.00 greens fees for Fall rates. The pairings this week were: Ruhle(45) / Muenchow(47) / Colon(39) / Barr(41) Milhaupt(43) / Wittig(49) / Woods(45) / Schaefer(48x) Ken Barr won a $5 gift certificate at Tootsies for his Closest 2nd shot on #10. Gary Ruhle won a $10 gift certificate at Checkered Flag for his Closest to the Pin on #12. Henry Colon took the Longest Drive on #13 and won a $5 gift certificate at Waverly Beach and a free pitcher at The Stoneyard. Mike Woods won 2 free Dinner Buffets at The Darboy Club for his Longest Putt on #17. Ken Barr won a free go cart ride at Badger Park and a free pitcher at The Stoneyard. Low Gross went to Henry Colon for his 39. He took a haul: $5 gift certification from Anduzzi's, a $5 gift certificate from Grillin', and a pitcher from The Stoneyard. The group headed to The Stoneyard for brews, pasta, chicken fingers, and wings. |

The weather started out questionable with some light rains, but by the time we got to the #2 tee the rains stopped. 61.2 °F and Calm 4.5 mph winds. $10.50 fall rates. The pairings this week were: Ruhle(45) / Milhaupt(41) / Barr(42) / Koplitz(45) / Monese(43) Muenchow(45) / Wittig(41) / M Woods(43) / T Woods (Guest)(45) George Monese had the Closest from off the Green on #1. Dan Muenchow had the Longest Drive on #2. Tim Woods (Guest) had the Closest to the Pin in 3 shots on #3. Andy Wittig had the Closest to the Pin in 2 shots on #7 and won a $5 Pioneer II gift certificate. Terry Koplitz had the Closest to the Pin on #8. Andy Wittig had the Longest Putt on #9 and won a free lunch at Bates BBQ. Not much interest to head to the 5th Quarter, as only 4 showed for a drink, steaks, and burgers. We shook for 4 of the proxies; those winners were: Mike Milhaupt with a $50 Venum Vinyl gift certificate, Gary Ruhle for a pizza and beer coupon for Pop in Again Pizza, and a free oil change at Action Auto, and Ken Barr for a $10 gift card from Cleos. The scorer in the 1st group mis-added a few totals, so if you notice a different score than you thought, that's why. |
