A number of fine scores came in this week, as conditions were a little better than last week. George Monese takes both proxies, and Tim Woods keeps his sand wedge, as well as the bunker rake. A question arose this evening, pertaining to last weeks points for a certain group. In double checking the cards submitted, as well as my data entry, all is correct, and right on the money. I have made a photocopy of the card submitted, and will explain it to the individuals next week, not a problem at all, simply a misinterpretation. Speaking of money, with two fewer teams this year, prize money for proxies would run out at the current payout schedule, so don't be suprised if you see a sleeve of balls, perhaps one proxie instead of two, or none at all, in a given week. This is due to our budgeting this years cost at 24 players, when we currently have 20. An update to this years BTWB Ryder Cup competition versus those pesky Sodbusters: In speaking with Paul DeLange, Mascoustin has been reserved for our competition this year, and is slated for Saturday, September 13th. We would very much like to get 12 players per team, but are shooting for 10 at this point. Players eligible ( as far as the bragging rights go ) to make the team will be based on your handicap at seasons end. Once we find out how many players we will have available, I will let you know "where you need to finish" to "make the cut". If someone is either not interested, or cannot make it, the next player in line will be chosen for the team. There will be a change this year, to the partners/teams. Since Paul and I are the team captains, we will select who plays together as a twosome, or team. Match-ups will not be based on rankings or handicaps, but rather the "Captains choices" of those eliglble; who the captain feels makes the better "fit" for each group. This is more along the lines of the true Ryder Cup, and should make for some interesting match-ups. This grouping will be for the entire 27 holes, for 3 different events so our choices can be critical. Playing one's number one and two together might be good for one event, but perhaps not for another, see where I'm going with this ? Stay tuned for updates, and remember, every stroke counts !! I know it's early, but please e mail me if you can at this point, as to whether or not you're interested in playing on the Ryder Cup team, or if you know already, that you cannot make it. I need a reply from everybody. Cost should be around $60.00 per player for greens fees, and a pinch more for prize money, which is yet to be determined.
