This is the iFonProtect iPhone application.
iFonProtect acts as a motion detector and will sound an alarm
when the iPhone is moved. After the ProtectMe
button is depressed, the owner has the number of seconds (1-20) set in the
delay slider to move the iPhone to its resting place. The
iPhone screen will go dark to save on battery when the delay has
expired and the accelerometers are activated (it will look as if it is
in sleep mode).
If
tripped the alarm will sound unless the correct disarm code is
entered. The disarm code can be comprised of any number of
characters available from the pop up keypad (the default is '???').
Just remember that to disarm the alarm all characters must be
typed and
the 'Done'
button pressed. The disarm delay slider is used to
set the number of seconds (3-20)
between the time
motion is detected and the alarm sounds to give the owner the chance to
cancel the alarm by entering the correct disarm code. Once
the
alarm begins to sound it will sound for about 20 seconds.
If the 'Home' button is pushed, the alarm will still sound
for at
least 5 seconds (the exact time is dictated by the iPhone operating
system).
The alarm sounds at the
system audio level so adjust the volume using the buttons on the edge
of the iPhone prior to pressing the ProtectMe button.
If the Ring/Silent switch is set to Silent the alarm will not be
heard.
An incoming call that is unanswered when iFonProtect
is active, will not deactivate the application. An incoming
call can be 'declined' while iFonProtect is active, but one must be
careful not to move the phone. If a call is answered
iFonProtect
will deactivate alarm. After the call is terminated then the
user
must press the 'Home' button to exit iFonProtect.
iFonProtect disables the
iPhone's idle timeout (AutoLock) feature while it is running.
To save on battery the iPhone should be set to 'Airplane' mode if it is
to be protected for a prolonged period of time and brightness set to a
minimum, or connect the iPhone to its charger. Note: if an
iPhone running iFonProtect is within a movable object like a purse,
then that object is also protected.
With version 1.2.1 of iFonProtect a PowerMiser switch has been added.
If the switch is in the default OFF position then iFonProtect
will function the same as in previous versions. The ON
position is meant for use when one expects to protect the iPhone for an
extended period of time. In this mode the iPhone will use less
battery power if placed face down on a solid surface. The PowerMiser mode cannot be used if the iPhone is to be placed within another movable container like a handbag or backpack.
