Forensic analysis of whiskey
Principal components analysis
- Early analysis unconstrained to explore data
- Two PCA axes achieve separation
- New and aged samples also tend to separate, but this does not interfere.
Goals of the problem not yet satisfied
- PCA inferred a natural separation but did not prove one. It
could be an artifact, and should be confirmed.
- The result is accurate, but not easy or fast. The two new
PCA dimensions are a combination of the original seventeen,
requiring many measurements and calculations.
