The person on the right is:

James Leroy Siver

Born 10/14/1841, Died 08/02/1924

He enlisted in the Union Army at Eldora, Iowa on 09/14/1861 in the 12th Iowa Infantry Company A. He was mustered out on 12/02/1864 at Nashville, Tenn.

He was in the following Battles:

Battle of Fort Donelson, February 13, 14, 15, 1862

Battle at Corimsh, Miss., 10/03/1862

Battle at the mouth of the White River, Ark., 06/22/1864

He Served on the following ships on the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers:

Hospital Ship, DA January

Steamer, Charles McDougall
