Staying in Touch with Players

This is the first edition of our e-mail Newsletter.  I hope this will help us stay in contact with all our players and let them know what’s going on in the channel.  If a player disappears for a time we all wonder and worry about them.  If one of our players is sick, having a computer problem, or just has to be away for a while and you know about it, let the channel owner know so others can be made aware of the reason for their absence.  Maybe that person doesn’t know just how important they are to us – and how much they are missed when they’re not around.  LET THEM KNOW WE CARE!

Player News

From ^Claire^:

I guess our news has to do with Laser Gallery. The website is fully operational now, with credit card processing. And we will be vendors at dog shows throughout the fall season.

More news: We have adopted our second Lhasa Apso - a 2 year old rescue named Benji, who is a total delight. Missy, my 6 year old Lhasa Apso, dearly loves him and shares all her possessions (including her humans) with him. Having two is twice as delicious as having one!

Lotsa hugs!

From TwoHams:
Phil is busy packing for a move across town and will be in and out of the channel for the next few weeks.  We sure will miss him, but hope the move goes well and he’ll be back with us soon.

More Player News

From Momof6:
Ron and "M" were wed on July 12th, 2003.  The proud parents are momof6 and dadof6.  All of the kids were in the wedding.  Ron is #2.  1,3,4, and 5 were groomsmen with #1 being best man.  #6 was a bridesmaid.  It was a beautiful ceremony and we are blessed to have such a lovely couple in our family!

“Channel Rules”

I’ve been asked several times if the channel has “rules”.  Although we are very tolerant (except for bad language), there are some rules.  Go to the website at http://chat_trivia.home.comcast.net/rules.htm and review the general rules for our game channel.

Please remember to keep your virus protection current and updated.  There’s been a lot of new “worms” out there causing a lot of headaches.  Your virus protection program can only protect you if you have the current viruses listed in your program.  Updating daily – or weekly – can save you a lot of problems.

Recipes – Feature of the month

With Thanksgiving not too far away, here’s a recipe I think you will all enjoy:

Jackie's Scrumptious Pumpkin Torte
Submitted by Jackie

This recipe has been our all-time favorite at Thanksgiving for years, instead of plain ol' pumpkin pie.  It takes about 30 minutes to make, but is well worth the time it takes.  We like it not overly sweet, since it is very rich (because of the cream cheese.)  Enjoy!

Bottom Layer - (crust)
1 pkg. graham crackers or about 1 and 1/2 to 2 cups graham cracker crumbs.
1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4 cup sugar

Crush graham crackers well and add melted butter and sugar.  In a medium bowl, mix well with a fork and then press into the bottom of an 8x8 inch glass cake pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until slightly brown.  Allow the crust to cool while preparing the other layers.

Middle Layer
1 - 8 oz. pkg.
Philadelphia  cream cheese
2 large eggs, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1 t. vanilla

In blender, mix all ingredients until smooth.

Pour over and spread evenly over the graham cracker crust.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 - 20 minutes or until set, but not brown.

Top Layer
1 - 16 oz. can mashed pumpkin such as Kuner's
1  -12 oz. can evaporated milk
2 large eggs, beaten
1 pkg. Knox (unflavored) gelatin
1/2 to 1 cup brown sugar to taste
1 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground  ginger
1/4 teaspoon  ground cloves (optional)

Take 1/2 - 3/4 cup of the canned milk and stir in the gelatin in a small dish. Set aside.

In medium saucepan, stir together pumpkin and remaining milk, sugar, spices and beaten eggs. Heat until mixture is well cooked and thickened.

Lastly, add softened gelatin/milk mixture and stir well. (Taste to see if sweet enough for you, If not, add more brown sugar.)

Remove from stove and allow to cool to warm.

Pour and evenly spread pumpkin mixture over the cream cheese layer. Cover with aluminum foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate until the pumpkin layer is cold.

Before serving, cut into squares and add a dollop of whipped topping  on each square such as Cool Whip, real whipped cream, or Dream Whip.

Serves 9.
Keep refrigerated.  For a large group, this recipe may be doubled and prepared in a 9x13 inch pan - serves 18.
