Tell It Goodbye "And though I'm just concrete and steel, I still can feel........." * * * "And I'll miss you, everyday, every inning. But I wish you the joys of winning. When winter turns to spring I swear I'll hear you sing, Take me out to the ball game, take me out with the crowd...." |

The game of baseball, our national pastime, has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with the game and the Cleveland Indians who in MY childhood produced a whole bunch of heroes but not much in the win column. But the wins didn't matter. The heroes on that field were real, as were the very special memories of time spent with my brothers and sisters and parents and learning the game and lessons learned through that game that apply off the field in so many ways. I all but grew up at Municipal Stadium on the shores of Lake Erie. And though Tell It Goodbye is about another ballpark in another city, along another body of water......somehow the sentiments for me were much the same as Kyle has so lovingly expressed in what can only be a love song to what most would consider just a building.
Tell It Goodbye was included on the Japan issue of Wow And Flutter as a bonus CD but the single can still be obtained from Kyle's website.

5000 Heroes "Peace on earth Goodwill toward man Should mean the same in every land And we need every one of us to survive" |
This song is a gift. After Kyle wrote and recorded it he made it available for internet download and it was later put onto a CD that was used as a fundraiser whose proceeds benefited scholarships for the families of victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Like I said, this song is a gift and it's lyrics are probably as powerful and as meaningful years later as they were just after the attacks.
