Don't You Know

I've been fortunate in hearing many of these songs in their early stages of development at various shows throughout the last few years. Hearing them grow has been a true gift for me and the wait to hear the finished versions on the album was hard....but so well worth the wait.

Sweet Alice Brook

"Whenever the world starts spinning too fast - She slows it down for me - Tender and lovely this nature girl is - always there for me"

This song......this song makes me wonder how a songwriter doesn't go crazy with the voices and sounds that he must hear in his head.....to get him to that finished song. I thought anything but the purity of just a piano would ruin the soul of this song. And I couldn't have been more wrong.

Did you know that Sweet Alice Brook has strings and horns?

The message in this song is obvious and SO important but it has an extra meaning for me too. Everyone needs their own Sweet Alice Brook where they can run to....the world spins way too fast these days.

One Last Ride On The Merry-Go-Round

"Every child needs someone that they can turn to - You were there and never said no"

When Kyle sings this one live he always sings to an empty chair....singing to his grandmother.

I swear she's not there but right up on stage with him.

Words fail me on this one.

This song is a gift.

Sister Hold On

"They tell you you're crazy and they've had enough - So they fill you with pills instead of love - Cause if you're not bleeding - nobody seems to care - anywhere - but I care"

There are so many beautiful additions to the studio version of this song. The flute that starts it off and picks up throughout to carry it through.....the drums are just amazing on this one. But Kyle's voice on this song is ever so special, somehow more personal. This is one though that as much as I'll always cherish having the polished studio version, I think I'll always be grateful to have heard it live.

A very special song with such an intimate lyric that so many will find ways of relating to.

The Last Hawk

"As she soars across the sky - And casts a shadow on the sun - What freedom she must feel"

* * *

"It's amazing we were given such beauty and majesty - And yet we've treated it all so carelessly"

I will never get tired of listening to this song. There's a quality to Kyle's voice in this song that's somehow unique just to this magical lyric. Live - Kyle performs this song on the keyboard...the addtion of the acoustic guitar on the studio version is such an beautiful compliment.

You can't listen to this song and not be moved.

You just can't.
