"Vibrant, smart,
innovative. These are just three adjectives that come to mind when I
think of
pianist/composer/arranger Geoffrey Keezer." -- SOUNDSOFTIMELESSJAZZ.COM
Pianist and Wisconsin native Geoffry
Keezer's
current prominence as a leading voice in Jazz is due to his
mastering the language at a very young age. Always on the lookout for
talented
jazz potential, Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers took him on board
while
Keezer was still in his teens and studying at Berklee College of Music.
His
musical achievements are many and varied from preforming with the
Hollywood
Bowl Orchestra to countless dates with clubs and festivals. Keezer's
compositions have been commissioned by the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band, the
Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and the Zeltsman Marimba Festival.
He is heard on over twenty three
CD releases, at least eleven of which are his own dates including Turn
Up
The
Quiet with Grammy winning vocalist
Diana Krall along with Joshua Redman and Christian McBride. Sublime
is an ambitious set of piano duets with Kenny Barron,
Chick Corea, Benny Green and Mulgrew Miller. His association with
Hawaiian
slack key guitarist Keola Beamer on the CD Falling Up is
notable. Keezer's searching nature has led him to
explore traditional Okinawan music and to one of his latest projects - Áurea,
a
celebration of Afro/Peruvian jazz.
"The music is played
with a wonderful sense of clarity and balance; every important detail
is
well-judged, and there is a refinement of expression in exploring and
bringing
the music to life through flexible and sensitive interpretations --
