Best known for his
work with the B3 Hammond organ Dan
Trudell will showcase his
talents with his trio at this year’s Jazz Fest on piano. Dan Trudell is all
soul. His recognizable sound on the B3 or acoustic piano has been
described as
...”having just the right amount of grease and intellect”. With
a strong grounding in the blues and swing Dan
can squeeze out long fluid melodic lines that are unpredictable as well
as
logical. His ability to build a solo that sustains the listener’s
interest is
not only logical but exciting. A TEN on the Goove-O-Meter.
Dan has numerous professional credits including stints accompanying
singers Joe
Williams and Aretha Franklin. He has also performed with prominent
jazzmen Nick
Brignola, Alan Dawson, Jim Rotondi, and James Clay, and Matt Wilson. He
has
performed in Chicago with the Chicago Jazz Orchestra, and the Mike
Allemana
Organ Trio, and his group the the B3 Bombers. Dan can be heard on the
Mike
Allemana Organ Trio CD, Monday Prayer to Tunkashila, and on his own CD,
Song of
Happiness. His latest CD Dragon Fish is a duo with saxophonist
Pat Mallinger.
