Chris Salerno and ZIJI

ZIJI

Ziji is a Tibetan word meaning "confidence" and "splendor" or

"elegance." I think pianist Chris Salerno and friends couldn’t have come

up with a more apt name for their Brazilian infused jazz group. Many

original tunes as well as hip jazz standards from Grover Washington and

Pat Metheny. They got the samba thing goin’ on with compositions from

Egberto Gismonti and Milton Nascimento - and of course Jobim. This is a

tight ensemble with years of experience playing together. Lots of

improvised solos. Bass flute!

Chris Salerno - piano and vocals, John Croarkin - sax, flute and

harmonica, John Gibson - bass, and Danny Lueck - drums.
