 SOLOIST COMPETITION The second annual Fox Jazz Fest high school soloist competition occurred this year. Mike Malone of Oshkosh West High School and Eric Schultz of Ashwaubenon High School were the winners of this year’s competition. Please contact Lori Lacey in March 2010 to apply for consideration in next year’s soloist competition. Hopeful applicants must submit a written application as well as an audio recording which displays their ability to improvise in the jazz medium. GUEST ARTIST CLINIC We are very excited to announce that our Sunday headliner, Arturo O'Farrill will host a clinic for Fox Valley jazz students the morning of Sunday, September 6th as part of this year's festival. Although the clinic is aimed to provide an enriching and educational experience for area jazz students, it is free and open to the entire public. All are welcome! O’Farril’s clinic will take place at Seton Catholic Middle School in Menasha, WI at 10am on Sunday, September 6th. It is the hope of the Fox Jazz Festival Planning Committee to make artist clinics and workshops an annual event that will continue to enrich the festival experience for jazz students, performing musicians, and educators in the area. |
