NOAH HARMON TRIO

NOAH HARMON TRIO

Jam Session:
"An informal performance of musicians, involving a degree of improvisation. Jam sessions also serve as training sessions for young musicians. Common in jazz, also pop and folk music."

"In the lore and discipline of jazz nothing has been more important than the tales told of jam sessions and the knowledge resulting from them. In the jam session, artistry fuses with the athletic event, the debate, and the card game. One displays the ability to express human feeling in artistic form, to compete with fellow musicians in terms of eloquence, and to play a musical hand - aggressing, baiting in, backing out, reading the minds of others. Those jam session elements have long made for legends and for disputes as to what actually took place. They have lifted and lowered reputations, provided exceptional examples of flexibility, and schooled more than a few in the hard knocks and satisfactions of struggling with the standards of the elders and coming into the personal power necessary for high quality improvisation."
---- Stanley Crouch - Battle Royale

No Jazz festival would be complete without a jam session, and once again, the Fox Jazz Festival is sponsoring a Saturday night jam session at the Holiday Inn Riverwalk.

The host of the session is Noah Harmon, with his trio.

Noah Harmon is a dynamic, creative pianist, quickly gaining a reputation as one of the hottest young piano players around. Well versed in a multitude of styles, he brings with him bassist Andy Mertens, and drummer Mike Underwood.

So come with a horn to join in, or just come with your ears to hear some exciting musical interchanges at the annual Fox Jazz Festival Jam Session!
