Dogs have been a part of my life since my first conscious
memories. But it wasn’t until 1985 that I became
involved in the world of formal dog training. I began taking
obedience classes with my mixed breed puppy, who excelled, and was
bitten by ‘the bug’. I purchased my first
purebred, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, in 1987 and was introduced to the
conformation ring, where my foundation bitch again excelled in that
venue. From that point, there was no turning back.
My dogs are my partners, and I have always taken great pride in
handling my own dogs in the conformation ring, and in all the different
events I have tried: lure coursing, straight racing, agility, tracking,
obedience, rally, and sheep herding (to date).
As my career in dogs evolved, I discovered that I enjoy sharing my
knowledge, passing on the skills I have developed, and mentoring
others. I love to see the look on a person’s face when they
put the first Championship point on their own beloved dog, or open an
email from someone sharing their success. I enjoy helping
frustrated owners of unruly dogs learn to communicate with and
transform their pet into an enjoyable family member they are proud
of. Come learn with me!
Currently I share my life with six wonderful Rhodesian Ridgebacks:
Rose - Lamington Red Wine and
Roses, SC, HIC
Lexie - Multi UKC BIS, U-GrCh,
Am/Can Ch Symetri Easy On The Heart, JC, TT,
HIC
Cody - Multi UKC BIS, U-GrCh,
AKC Ch Symetri’s Code Red, CGC, TT,
HIC
Flag - U-Ch, Am/Can Ch
Symetri’s Flying Colors, RN, CDX, CGC,
TT
Summer - U-Ch, AKC Dual Ch
Oakhurst Summer Madness, JC, CGC, TT
Tesla - Symetri’s
Magnetic Moment, JC
I co-own numerous other Ridgebacks of my own breeding, and one gorgeous
American Eskimo: Starr - U-GrCh, AKC Ch
Pat’s Irish Starry
Nite
I bred my first litter of Ridgebacks in 1989 using the kennel name
“Symetri”. Although I breed infrequently,
to date I have produced more than 30 AKC Champions, and many other
title-holders in various events. My breeding program focuses first on
correct structure so that my dogs can live happy, active lives; of
equal importance is a stable temperament since I want each of my
puppies to be first and foremost a beloved family member, no matter
what else they may accomplish.
