My
love of animals started from a very young age. My Mom was born in East
Texas, where animals were a way of life. Dusty, a wonderful field
Cocker, was a family member before I came along. He shared my life for
seventeen years. I got my first pony, Scout, when I was five years old.
I also grew up with cats, chickens, ducks, and a goat in the hills of
Pompey.
I started taking obedience classes eight years ago, with my Doberman
Pinscher, Sueshe.
I had planned on taking only one or two classes, to teach her basic
obedience, but fell in love with dog sports. I never dreamed that I
would put obedience, rally, and agility titles on Sueshe! I was lucky
enough to meet Dottie seven years ago and have been taking classes from
her ever since.
I am currently having fun with my four-year-old Australian Shepherd, Player.
I got him because I fell in love with his mom, Isis (a Dottie's Dog
School star). After having him altered, I showed him in ASCA
(Australian Shepherd Club of America) conformation, finishing his
Champion title in five shows. The thrill of my life was when Player was
Winners Dog/Best of Winners at the 2007 ASCA nationals. Player has his
AKC CD and RAE titles as well as an ASCA CD. We are working on our CDX
(AKC and ASCA), with a few legs to go.
I love teaching rally and basic obedience classes. It is fun to see
those wild young pups develop into canine good citizens. And it warms
my heart to see students and their dogs start working as a team!
