Proposed By-Laws Changes 2003 Central Texas College Faculty Senate We will vote on all of these at the April 25th meeting.. 1. We are proposing that another position be added to Article IV so we have continuity in our website communication. This position will not be elected by the membership. Due to the technical skills required, this position will be appointed each year by the Executive officers. Faculty Senate Webmaster: This position will maintain the Faculty Senate web site. The Webmaster will work closely with the Secretary to maintain the current web page postings of the membership list, minutes of all the meetings, announcements, schedules, and agendas. The Webmaster is responsible for acquiring necessary web space and renewing the registration of the www.ctcFacultySenate.org domain name. The Webmaster serves as historian for all Senate documents digitally stored in the web site archives. The Webmaster will be present at all Executive Officer meetings. 2. We are proposing that, like TCCTA, the immediate past President automatically be a member of Faculty Affairs the year after he/she has held office. I will incorporate these changes into the by-laws and have them posted in the next few days. Then you can see how they would actually read in the by-laws themselves.
Also, to just summarize the changes we previously suggested and haven’t voted on: 1. We added a line that the President-elect officially coordinate the annual Peer Appreciation banquet. (Every President-elect is told it is their duty, but it isn’t in the by-laws. In effect, it’s already happening.) 2. We added a line that the Secretary and Treasurer will both be responsible for checking the P.O. box once a week. 3. We added a line that Committee Chairs would be identified and reported in writing to the Executive officers by the September meeting. 4. We added a line that says that the members of the Executive Committee consist of the Faculty Senate Officers and the Chairs of each Standing Committee. The Executive Committee shall meet at the discretion of the Faculty Senate President. (Since the full Executive Committee has not met for the last few years, this is saying that the President has the discretion to have meetings or not have them – something that’s already been happening.) 5. We added a line that says that the Nominating Committee will post election result on the Faculty Senate website. If this is not possible (the system is down indefinitely for some reason), the results will be posted in the library or other convenient public locations on campus. |
