CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE FACULTY SENATE March 8, 2002 9:00 am. Building 113, Room 106
Present: Officers: Al Waite (President), Jan Anderson (President-elect), Rhonda Mize Sullivan (Treasurer) and Delores Williams (Secretary). Faculty: 33 members present.
Call to Order President Al Waite called the meeting to order at 9:02 a.m.
Approval of Minutes Gordon Bacon moved to approve the minutes of the February 15, 2002 meeting as they were printed on the web site. Jan Anderson seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report Rhonda Mize Sullivan, submitted the following Treasurer’s report:

Bob Chaney moved to accept the report as presented and Tonya Gibson seconded the motion. It passed by a voice vote.
Standing Committees Faculty Affairs and Peer Appreciation Banquet: Jan Anderson reported that a representative will attend the Employee Benefits Committee meeting. The Faculty Senate Peer Appreciation Banquet will be held tonight beginning with a social at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. Ticket sales totaled 112. A round of applause was given in appreciation of the Committee’s work. Professional Development: Voting on the “Proposed Professional Development Plan” will end at 10:00 a.m. this morning in the Library. On Monday, the results will be sent via e-mail to the 129 Faculty Senate members. The results of the vote will be discussed at the April meeting. Ernie Patterson expressed words of congratulations to the Committee for all their years of work on this project. Piper Professor: No report. Nominating Committee: Members of this committee, Bob Chaney, Tonya Gibson, Anna Holston, Shirley Robertson, and Ella Teague, will be meeting this month in preparation for the April elections. Ad Hoc Membership and Pay Committee: No report.
Old Business Lisa McQueen reported that Faculty Senate T-shirt order forms are available. Orders are due in approximate two weeks. The faculty is encouraged to wear them to Saturday Start, April 6. President Waite reported that the CTC Employee’s Pension Trust had invested in Enron. The investment was sold last year for a total loss of $13,459.00.
New Business None
Announcements Representatives from The Morgan Kegan, Inc. Excellence in Teaching Award Endowment will be attending the Peer Appreciation Banquet tonight. In addition, awards will also be presented by the Guidance and Counseling Department. It was announced that Gary Turner, Developmental Studies and past TCCTA president, will not be returning to the classroom this semester. Anna Holston moved that the Faculty Senate make some provision to send flowers, cards, etc. to him. The President stated no second is needed; it will be done.
Adjournment There being no further business, President Waite adjourned the meeting at 9:29 a.m.
