Ch Dukehaven Artemis

Artemis' entry into the world was bittersweet.  She was the only of 3 kittens to survive, a result of probably waiting too long for her mom (Duchess) to deliver.  Then Duchess lost most of her milk, and Bob and I began supplementing her feedings to keep her going.  What a joyous time it was when she became old enough to begin solid foods!  Having lost two kittens already and spending so much time feeding and caring for her, it would have been heartbreaking to lose her too.

We waited until Artemis was older before giving her a name.  She has a cute red mark on the top of her head, so considered princess names.  But with her feral looks and her scampy ways, princess names just didn't fit.  Our daughter loves Greek mythology, and suggested the name Artemis, a huntress - now that fit!  And Artemis she became.

Artemis is a lap kitty, especially when I'm on the computer.  She has a strong chin, nice eye shape, rich warm coloring and great lynx tips.  She's from some very old lines.

See Artemis' kittens, born at the end of August.
