NAN BUCKNER MEMORIAL AWARD     

 The Nan Buckner Memorial Award is presented to a 10 and under Boy and Girl swimmer who embody the qualities of a bright spirit with competitive desire and team dedication.  The award was established in 2007 in honor of Nan Buckner, who was an integral part of our Swordfish Family for many years. On March 14th, 2007, Nan passed away, but she is remembered fondly with this WSC award named in her honor.  The Swordfish were blessed to have Nan help coach our 8 & Unders.  Nan had vast swimming experience, serving as the captain of her high school swim team and as a coach working with YMCA Swimmers in North Carolina, and she brought this experience to the Swordfish as she lovingly directed our young swimmers.  She touched and inspired many; Nan challenged all those she met to live to their potential, providing guidance and counsel, always with an upbeat and positive outlook to life’s challenges.
