Irene Dundon Award

                Irene Dundon worked very hard for the Wyoming Swim Club team. She served as our P.P.S.L. representative for many years and was an active participant in all team functions. Her son and daughter were on the team, and she herself was a swimmer.

                As a child, Irene found out that she was born with a serious heart defect. It was inoperable at that time, but she never gave up hope that something would be developed to help her. She swam a mile every day and kept in good shape. Finally, an operation was performed in Houston, Texas. All seemed to have gone well; however, she died unexpectedly on June 26, 1973.

                Her hope for the future, her warm, caring personality, and her strength and perseverance were an inspiration to all who knew her. This award is presented in honor of the qualities of desire, personal strength, and dedication which are seen in great men and women.
