The East Maine Fire Company would like to thank
you for stopping in to see
us.
We are an organization of conscientious individuals, your neighbors, who care for the well-being and safety of our families and yours.The company protects fire protection district no. 7 in the Town of Maine and fire protection district no.12 in the Town of Unions.
There are
many jobs in the fire company, some that involve fighting fires and some that do
not. We do not require members to
become interior firefighters. There
are numerous jobs that one can do without having to fight fire, such as, become
a Fire Policeman, Run the Pumps on the trucks, Run the auto extrication
equipment, or become an Emergency Medical Technician to name just a
few.
We supply full workers compensation
insurance, in the event that you become injured at an
incident.
The requirements for membership are
simple:
· Be at least 16 years of
age, and be voted in by the membership.

Undergo a free health
physical.
The physical is given by Broome
County
Health Department
· Complete the
· Attend a minimum of 6 hours
of “in house” training every 3
months. (That is only one Monday night a month!)
You can join either the Fire Company or the Med Team or both. All personal protective gear is provided by the Fire Company and all training fees are paid for. There is no financial obligation to joining. “In house” trainings and monthly business meetings are held on Monday nights from 7-9 PM and one Saturday a month from 8 am to 12 pm. Fire and Med Team officers are elected annually.
Membership also has some benifits: free yearly physicals, possible income
tax credits, pride and self esteem that you are doing something
good!
The East Maine Fire Company is a non-profit
corporation run by a Board of Directors elected from the membership at the
annual elections in December.
The company also has a social side. An installation dinner is held each year
to welcome in the newly elected Officers and Board members. Barbecues and other get-togethers are
held for members and their families.
Members also help each other out in times of need, the membership has a variety of skills that can be
called upon when needed.
The use of the fire hall and/or the use of the
companies’ chairs and tables is also available to
members.
