In January 2006, I
traveled up to the APA and
ABA Nationals in Stockton. I was planning
to buy a few calm,
purebred hens or pullets, but I ended up buying a pair of Quail Belgian
Bearded d'Anvers. |
| History |
I
had heard of (and
experienced)
some ferocious cocks, so imagine my surprise when the cockerel fell
asleep in my arms while I toted him around! |
| Pictures |
The
cockerel
(Louis
XIV, now a cock)has since proven to be an excellent showmanship bird,
and his son, Battre, also shows promise. |
| Our Accomodations |
I
use the males for showmanship, but I have no mean birds, just
skittery ones. |
| For Sale |
So far, Louis has placed first of all the d'Anver cocks in every show I have entered him, and I also have high hopes for Battre, who is even better-looking than his father. |
| Our Breeders |
At the November 2006 Bakersfield Show, I
also
purchased a new pair of d'Anvers from Mr. Eric Kutch, one of the top
d'Anver breeders! Their offspring have been excellent- Vaciller
(above) was one of them! |
| Eggs |
And I also recently purchased two Quail d'Anver pairs from
Greg Romer, the top d'Anver
breeder in the US (now retired). I have so far had an excellent hatch
from these two, but unfortunately need to sell one to allow room for
their babies! |
