Welcome to belgiandanver.com

We hope to provide you with quality show birds.

Sleeping Louis XIV Louis XIV and Papette Volage and Bijou 2nd batch 2006 chicks

In January, I traveled up to Stockton, CA, for the 2006 Poultry Nationals- with the aim of buying a few nice showmanship hens.  I ended up buying a quiet Silver Duckwing Old English pullet and a pair of Belgian Bearded d'Anvers.  I had heard of(and experienced) some ferocious cocks, so imagine my surprise when the cockerel fell asleep in my arms while I toted him around!
The cockerel (I named him Louis XIV)has since proven to be an excellent showmanship bird, and his son, Volage, also shows promise.  Their wives (Papette and Bijou) are flighty and don't like to sit in my hand - they simply have more energy, I guess - so I have been using the cockerels for showmanship.  They all are darlings, though.
So far, Louis has placed first of all the d'Anver cockerels in every show I have entered him, and I also have high hopes for Volage, who is even better-looking than his father.
