Revision History
New in v2.2
- New "Delete All" image history option (Thanks to Michael V. for the suggestion!)
- Image history controls slightly re-arranged
- Image history selection rendering fix
- New dummy preset selection "None" shown when image controls altered from preset
- Last palette added or changed now automatically selected when exiting to image tab
New in v2.2 Beta
- Added image manager/browser, output tab simplified. (Apologies/thanks to Scott M!)
- Added user-editable image presets. (Thanks to Michael V. for the suggestion!)
- Added support for SSE acceleration, if the computer supports it. Pentium IIIs run 2-3x faster, Pentium IVs 3-4x faster.
- Added 2xAA option
- Wallpaper style now chosen automatically from image settings. Output tab simplified further.
- Palette file format changed. (Unfortunately, this means older palette files won't work with this version of Starfish. However, it is now possible to edit and merge palette files with Notepad or something similar.)
- Fixed a few palette-editing bugs (library-compatibility problems, fixed by static linking)
New in v2.2 Alpha
- "Save As..." button allows image to be saved or re-saved with user's choice of image format, filename. (Thanks to Paul R. for the suggestion!)
- Output tab slightly reorganized. New "Don't save or change wallpaper" output option for use with "Save As..." button.
- Captions re-arranged - top caption shows image info or scheduling info, bottom caption shows working/saved/not-saved status.
- Now logs automatically saved images, offers option to limit number of saved images (limited by deleting old ones) on Output tab.
- Automatic installer/uninstaller version now available.
- New nature palettes included in distro. (Thanks to Mary E!)
New in v2.1
- GradientFill() error message bug that appeared on some Win98 systems fixed (Many thanks to Mary E. for all her help tracking this one down!)
- Wallpaper changing now works with JPG and PNG under Windows XP.
- Image calculation runs in a low-priority thread, doesn't hog the CPU.
- Fast low-res image preview.
- About box will no longer appear if "Create new image when program starts" is checked - program will start operation immediately.
- Randomly created/selected palettes now tied to random seed, so they're re-producible. RNG is re-initialized (with the same seed) after palette setup, so palette selection/creation options no longer alter the pattern.
- About box splash screen bitmap replaced with dynamically created Starfish pattern, download size now much smaller.
- "Random (use system clock)" seeding option changed to "Random." New seeding method a little more convincingly random.
- Progress bar now non-segmented, just because it looks better.
- Color list in palette editor now updates immediately when user edits colors.
