Allen High School Bowling History

 

 

The Texas High School Bowling Club (THSBC), which is organized and run by the Texas Bowling Centers Association (TBCA), formally began in 2001- 2002. Since its founding, the Allen Eagles bowling team has been winning championships and receiving recognition awards. You will find information about these items below.

State/Regional Championships - Team

The Allen Eagles made an immediate impact on Texas high school bowling by winning the boys' state championship that inaugural season. The members of that championship team were:

 

- Zach Barton

- Levi Bishard

- Matt Crutcher

- Michael Foley

- Leif Kertis

- Danny Neill

The Allen boys followed up their 2001 - 2002 success by finishing 2nd in the 2002 - 2003 state championship tournament. The members of that team were:

- Matt Pickens

Not wanting to be outdone by their male teammates, the Allen High School girls' team won the girls' state championship in 2003 - 2004. The members of AHS' first girls' state championship team were:

Due to the growth in the number of participating schools, the Texas High School Bowling Club added regional competition in 2004 - 2005. The Allen Eagles rose to the challenge and won both the boys' and the girls' Region II championships that inaugural year.

 

The Allen girls' team went on to repeat as girls' state champions in 2004 - 2005, the first time in the history of the Texas High School Bowling Club either a boys' or girls' team had accomplished that feat. The members of AHS' second girls' state championship team were:

For 2005 - 2006, the Allen Eagles won both the boys' and girls' Region II championships for the second year in a row, again qualifying the teams for State competition.

State Championships - Individual

In 2003 - 2004, individual boys' and girls' singles tournaments were added to the state championship tournament. The top two boys and the top two girls from the Dallas North District were selected to compete in the tournament. That number was increased to four each in 2004 - 2005.

North Texas Open Scholarship Tournament

In 2004 - 2005, the North Texas Open scholarship tournament was held for high school bowling teams. The Allen girls' team won the girls' team championship, while the boys finished second in the boys' team competition.

 

The first annual North Texas Open scholarship tournament included boys' singles, girls' singles and mixed doubles competition. The Allen Eagles also dominated these competitions, winning nearly every event and squad they entered. Allen winners were:

 

- Beth Carter - girls' singles

- Beth Carter and Trenton Fisher - mixed doubles

- Stephanie Hinz and Zach Barton - mixed doubles

- Courtney Swindle and Matt Pickens - mixed doubles (won twice)

Individual Awards & Accomplishments

The Dallas Morning News began designating an All-Area Bowling Team in 2002-2003 and added an All-County (Collin) Bowling Team in 2003-2004 only. The Dallas North District also began nominations and voting for an All-District Bowling Team in 2003-2004. Not surprisingly, the powerhouse Allen Eagles team has dominated these honors every year.
