You can imagine that determining the type and extent of damage sustained and its community impact is an important responsibility of the American Red Cross.
If you are interested in helping with this activity during a disaster operation, there are two classes you need to take.
Both classes are free. You must complete Part 1 to take Part 2.
These courses introduce the critical role of disaster assessment, explore related preparedness tasks, and teach workers how to collect and communicate disaster assessment information. They create an understanding of how disaster assessment supports service delivery decisions.
Fundamentals of Disaster Assessment Part 1 (DSIMS200C - online component) - 6 self-paced learning modules take approximately 3.5 hours to complete.
Complete this before Part 2. Do the "Challenge Me Exercise" from Module 4 of Part 1 (online) and bring it with you to Part 2.
