Research


I earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI where I now serve as an adjunct assistant professor. My Ph.D. dissertation is entitled, "Two-dimensional Spectral Estimation Techniques with Applications to Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy".

During my research I have found it useful to develop several MATLAB functions that I feel would be useful for others. I have tested these functions using MATLAB 6.5, and have posted the source code. I am also including a link to the ftp site for Prentice Hall to obtain Petre Stoica's MATLAB functions that are complementary to his excellent text, "Introduction to Spectral Analysis" published in 1997.

I am impressed with the engineering of Saab automobiles. They are suited well for cold winter driving conditions and are fun to drive in the warm summer months as well.

Personal Information


I have put together some personal information about myself and my family. I am often asked about the Frigo Cheese company. My grandfather, Louis Frigo, and his brother Pasquale Frigo started the company in Aurora, Wisconsin in the 1920s. Initially, wheels of "Asiago" cheese were made and loaded on to wagons to be sold in Iron Mountain, Michigan and the surrounding area. As the company grew, small factories were operated in Florence, Wisconsin; Wausaukee, Wisconsin; Pound, Wisconsin; Lena, Wisconsin; Carney, Michigan; and Crivitz, Wisconsin. There were also some storage facilities in Crystal Falls, Michigan and Iron Mountain, Michigan.

Today, the only factory still in service from the original factories is located in Lena, Wisconsin. The family no longer owns the company, it is presently owned by Saputo Foods. I was fortunate enough to have worked at the Frigo Cheese factory in Lena, Wisconsin while I was in college (1979-1982). At the time I worked there, my brother Louis, and my father, Joseph, also worked there. It was fun to drive from our home in Green Bay, WI up to Lena, WI together, in our fresh white clothes, but not so fun to ride back, since we were usually pretty smelly by the end of the day. In working at the cheese factory, I continued in the tradition of seven generations of cheese makers before me.

My father, Joe Frigo, a cheesemaker always says "To make good cheese, you need good milk." The dairy farmers of Wisconsin, and Upper Midwest provided that priceless commodity; a product of the lush alfalfa fields, abundant corn fields, and the best dairy herds in the world.
