How to replace the Automatic Climate Control (ACC) sensor for a 1997 Saab 900SE

When the car is running, and for several minutes after the engine is shutdown,
a small fan in the Automatic Climate Control (ACC) sensor blows air on a thermistor
to obtain accurate measurements of the temperature inside the car. Gradually, dust builds
up on the fan, causing the fan to make a faint buzzing noise. This noise can be annoying
and may increase to a level where it may be necessary to replace the ACC sensor.
Replacement of the ACC sensor is easy, and requires only a simple torx screwdriver.
With the engine turned off, remove the access panel on the passenger side as shown below.
Remove the cover for the ACC sensor and gently remove it backwards from the dash. Then,
the old ACC sensor can be unplugged, and the new sensor can be installed. Note the connector
is keyed so the cable must be matched. Also note, the thermistor should be on the top side
when properly installed in the dash.

The ACC cabin fan sensor can be obtained from the Saabsite. (4364295)
