How to repair remote entry key fob for a 1999 Saab 93
A common problem with the 1999 Saab 93 is that the remote entry
key fob can fail. Often, the small momentary tactile switches soldered
onto the printed circuit board fail. Replacing the remote entry key
fob and re-programming it may cost over $100. Replacing failed switches
is another option.
To service the remote key entry fob, it is first necessary to remove the
screw that holds the 2 rubber sections of the key fob together. Next,
visually inspect the 3 switches to make sure they are intact. If a switch
is broken, it should be carefully removed from the printed circuit board.
Before servicing the unit, it is recommended to remove the circular battery
on the underside of the circuit board. Once the broken switch is removed,
the new switch can be soldered onto the circuit board as shown below.
