ALGEBRA I PART 1

Welcome to Algebra I Part 1.  I am Mr. Stanley and I am eager to start the upcoming semester.  I have some exciting activities arranged for the semester.  Hopefully you will learn a few things as the year progresses.  So let's begin and get the boring stuff out of the way (materials needed, rules, grading procedures, etc.)

 A.        CLASS MATERIALS

You will need the following items in class everyday:

·         pencils (no pens in this class)

·         3-ring binder with loose leaf paper and dividers

·         Calculator (TI-83, TI-83 plus, or TI-84 family)

·         Graph or grid paper

B.        CLASS RULES
Please print and sign a copy of the Class Expectations form on my website.  Consequences for breaking these rules are further outlined in the Student Handbook.

C.        GRADING PROCEDURE
I will use the point system to calculate your grade according to the following:

GRADE  =       Points earned
                    Total possible points

Homework is assigned DAILY so that you can benefit from the practice of what is discussed in class.  Assignment sheets are passed out at the beginning of each unit.  These sheets include daily objectives, hw assignments, quizzes and test dates for the unit.  Homework is tracked on a stamp sheet that is kept in the classroom.

 You are required to make up ALL work (homework, quizzes, projects, and tests) that is missed due to absences.  Quizzes and tests are announced at the beginning of every unit; therefore, if you are absent the day before a quiz or test (review day), YOU WILL STILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE THE QUIZ OR TEST ON THE ASSIGNED DAY!  If you are absent on the day of the test or quiz, you will have 3 days (excluding weekends) to make up the assignment.  Tests may NOT be made up during class time.  You must schedule an appointment to make up the work.
