ALGEBRA II

Welcome to Algebra II.  I am Mr. Stanley and I am eager to start the upcoming semester.  I have some exciting activities arranged for Algebra II.  Hopefully you will learn a few things as the year progresses.  So let's begin and get the boring stuff out of the way (materials needed, rules, grading procedures, etc.)

 A.        CLASS MATERIALS
            You will need the following items in class everyday:
        -    pencils (no pens in this class)
        -    3-ring binder with loose leaf paper
        -    Calculator (TI-83 plus or TI-84 family)
        -    Graph or grid paper

 B.        CLASS RULES

Please print and sign a copy of the Class Expectations form on my website.  Consequences for breaking these rules are further outlined in the Student Handbook.

 C.            GRADING PROCEDURE
            The grading policy is as follows:

            I will grade using the point system           A:        93 and above
                                                                               B:        85 – 92
          Grade =      points earned                           C:        77 – 84
                           total possible points                   D:        70 – 76
                                                                               F:         below 70

 Homework will be checked using a stamp page.  It is your responsibility to maintain your stamp page and turn it in when I collect it.  If absent the day of a test, you will have three days to complete the test at a time convenient for you and me.

All quizzes and tests that cover the same topic will use my “50 rule”.  If your quiz is at least a 50% and your test is better, then your test grade will replace your quiz grade.  If your quiz is below 50% and your test is a passing grade, then your quiz grade will be bumped up to 70% (passing).

FIRST NINE WEEKS                       SECOND NINE WEEKS                  FINAL GRADE
