  In Loving Memory of Marcy Scribner   ---  October 14, 1932 - January 11, 2002

Marcella Scribner passed away in her sleep at home in Escondido, California, after losing her battle with ovarian cancer.  Services for her were held in May, in Van Buren, Maine.  She was laid to rest in the Ouellette family site behind the St. Bruno/St. Remi Catholic Church.

Marcy was born in Cyr Plantation, Maine.  She was the daughter of Ludger and Anne Ouellette, a farming family from Van Buren.  She attended nursing school and was a registered nurse for more than 30 years.

She loved to golf, but was proudest of her nine children and 12 grandchildren.  She leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Warren Scribner, her mother Anne, her sister Maxine, and her brothers Tom and Jim, as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.

All nine of her children (and some of her grandchildren) made the journey back "home" to Maine to put her to rest.

She was the world's best MOM!

What were Cayman and Morgan Gibb up to in 2002?
BMX Racing, mountain biking, snow boarding, halloween carving and a great trip to Maine.

  2002 Gibb Family Christmas Letter
We're sorry it's been so long since our last Christmas letter.  Maybe we need to slow down a bit and take time out for what's really important…that's all of YOU!  Here's what's been happening with us over the last few years.

We've got a new address.  Although it's just about a mile from our old house, the new house should get us through "the teenage years" and give Cayman and Morgan more room to socialize without Mom and Dad nagging them for always being under foot or for being too noisy.  We all love the larger yard and the boys especially like their new bonus room.  The Gibb house seems to be the gathering place for about a dozen eight to twelve year olds.  The constant comings and goings of all those kids reminds Deb of growing up with nine brothers and sisters, loads of cousins, aunts and uncles.  It's a great homey feeling in this new house.

On the work scene, Tom is still with Websense but he has moved from International Sales which meant a lot of trips to Europe each year, to Strategic Account Management that keeps him close to home.  Deb's work has been an adventure.  She helped another "startup" business get off the ground (CollegeClub) which ended up acquiring six other companies in less than two years.  Eventually, CollegeClub learned that they had taken on too much too fast and that they would not able to continue to operate without outside sources of funding.  They ended up being acquired by a company whose headquarters was in Boston and eventually they relocated their technology operations back there.  Although Deb loves New England, relocation was not really a consideration.  So, for the last year Deb's been taking some time off and trying her hand at some Internet projects.  She's a big eBay enthusiast so you never know, she just might end up working from home for good.  The boys would love that!

Cayman and Morgan are thriving eleven year olds.  They'll be 12 at Christmas.  They do well in school and they race BMX bikes (along with Dad) several times a week.  Deb helps out at the race track and has created and maintained a web site where you can see some of their racing photos.  It's at www.kearnybmx.com.  The kids are very outgoing pre-teens.  In addition to biking, Morgan likes skateboarding while Cayman prefers rollerblading.  They both love swimming, snowboarding, playing video games and going to see the latest movies.  They even learned to scuba dive on a trip to the Cayman Islands last year.  Boy did they love that.

In other family news, Tom's parents (Bob and Helen) and siblings (Tim and Tammy) are all well and live and work nearby.  Deb's family has had a rough few years.  Her Mom, Marcy, had a recurrence of her ovarian cancer and lost that battle earlier this year.  Her Dad, Warren, continues to struggle with her passing.  The Scribner kids are taking things somewhat better.  This spring they planned and executed a sort of family reunion in Maine as a tribute to Marcy and as their way of "taking her home".  They got to see many aunts, uncles, cousins…and even "Grammy Ouellette", Marcy's Mom, who is a healthy and spry 90 year old!  That trip to Maine was a great healing process for everyone, but nothing will replace that special place Marcy holds in all our hearts.  She was very, very special and will be missed even more during our first holiday season without her.

Next year we anticipate some more career shifting, some new sports (I hear Santa may be bringing mountain bikes for the boys), and hopefully, some more family trips.  Who knows, we just might end up in YOUR neck of the woods!

We look forward to your cards and letters and we hope you are all healthy and happy.

Best wishes for a great holiday season and a prosperous 2003!
