JAYNE'S ALMOND COOKIES

Jayne did not invent this recipe. In grade school she visited the home of a Chinese friend in Hawaii (who lived in the Marco Polo) and they made cookies. Jayne says the family even had 100 year old eggs (not part of the recipe!). She does not remember the name of the family.

Oven - 350o

3 c flour
1 c sugar
1 t salt
1 1/3 c Crisco
1 t baking soda
1 egg
1 t almond flavoring

red food coloring (optional)

Cream Crisco, sugar; add all other ingredients - mix with hands.

Roll into golf ball size, put on greased cookie sheet. Press down until l/4" thick.

Optional: press red thumb print into center of cookie.

Bake 350o 20-25 min.
