John Henry Carter
"...little John Henry Carter of White Sands" was hired by Mr. Harrison to work on Mr. Harrison's farm. He fed the gossip of Avonlea by telling all kinds of stories about the e ating and cleaning habits of Mr. Harrison.

Mrs. Carter
Mrs. Carter is the mother of "little" John Henry Carter who works for Mr. Harrison. Since Mr. Harrison does not keep regular meal times, she fills John up with food on Sundays when John is home and sends along extra food on Monday. She also would have taken John away from Mr. Harrison because of Mr. Harrison's parrot, Ginger, who swears a lot, but she is not sure if there is someplace else that John could find work. She also shows everyone on Sundays the mark that Ginger bit out of John's neck.

His family is moving up from White Sands. Rachel Lynde thinks "...they'll simply be a burden on the public. He is in consumption...when he isn't stealing..." He stole a crock of butter out of Mrs. Lynde's dairy and told his wife that he bought it. His wife wasn't happy with the butter and told Mrs. Lynde that.
