MEET THE PRESIDENT

JAMES P. ELLIS
President

Jim Ellis has been working in the executive search business since 1979. He formed the search firm of Ellis & Associates in Honolulu in 1985, and recently changed the name to Executive Search World.

Previously he had senior executive management experience in US and Japanese companies. He managed various financial, information technology, marketing, manufacturing and human resource functions. Earlier he was with the CPA firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago.

Mr. Ellis participates in many Hawaii professional associations and community organizations. He has a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin in finance and accounting.

Jay has been working with Executive Search World and with Jim Ellis on various projects for 18 years. He began consulting for the search firm of Ellis & Associates in Honolulu in 1988, and became involved in projects relating to Technology, Venture Capital, Executive Search, Real Estate, Telecom, Internet, Graphics, Marketing, and High performance computing.

Jay was there at the inception of Executive Search World and provided the Lead Consulting on the IT computing infrastructure and technology applications used by the Firm such as voice recognition, database management, web design and internet group collaboration, scanning and document imaging, and client management systems. Jay has also been involved in Executive Search projects and helps to provide technology solutions using a deep understanding of the search business.

Mr. Garvin is an Ivy League graduate, and has lived in Japan, Hong Kong, and has lived in Hawaii for 20 years, bringing a unique Eastern, Western, Pacific, and Local Hawaii perspective on business, technology, executive structure, and international culture. He has been president and vice president at several businesses and has provided expertise to many companies locally here in Hawaii.
