Homeville Antique Fire Dept.

ENGINE No. 4

This truck was originally purchase by the Ferndale Michigan Fire Department. It was delivered on June 21, 1920. It is a Type 12 pumper and hose motor car. The unit has a 750 gallon per minute American LaFrance rotary gear two-stage fire pump. The motor is the American LaFrance "T" head six cylinder gasoline engine which develops 130 horse power. The motor is equipped with a Schebler updraft carbureator. It has 18 spark plugs, two per cylinder powered by the magneto and one per cylinder powered by the distributor. This apparatus is not equipped with a booster tank, as it was "rebuilt" by American LaFrance in 1925 from a chemical tank and hose motor car to the current pumper configuration.
