The following is a DN post written by Cathy Hedrick about her experience at the Midwestern Rendezvous, which took place on September 21, 2002 in Forte Wayne, Indiana. The event was organized and coordinated by Lynn Snyder and John R. Nelson and graciously hosted at John's home.

Saturday at 11am I met Lynn & Duke at their Hotel for lunch. As I waited I imagined Lynn as I seen her picture on DN. I heard her coming down the hall as she was telling the cleaning lady about her pups that were left in the room while we lunched. To my surprise the Lynn I remembered pictured on DN was no more. What a beautiful new doo, cut very short with a lovely golden blonde color. How very pretty she is. And what a very friendly hubby she has. As we lunched at a corner diner type place we talked like we all new each other a long time, which Lynn and I have. Duke told me stories of his farrier business and was very open on how he felt about Lynn's dizzies. You know when you are amongst friends when there is always someone talking. These two people are a must meet.

I went home and picked up my DH after lunch with Lynn & Duke which is a half our drive away. I arrived at John & Phyllis's home around 4:15pm. I peeked in the door looking for the dizzy people and there they were. Phyllis greeted Tim & I at the door. Now I gotta tell you...... what a friendly lady this is. She is sooooo friendly. I mean to tell you she made sure we were all at home. And so concerned with us (dizzy folk) and how we were feeling. What a grand hostess she is. "Saint Phyllis" I met John next. John is of course the nice guy we all know he is and I was very happy to finally meet him. What a very mild mannered friendly sharing man he is. And then Cindy. Now you guys have to meet Cindi. She is soooo funny and always a smile on her face.

Well it was time to grill those brats and hamburgers and guess what .........John ran out of propane. Cindi insisted on helping dear John out and away they went to refill. Phyllis took Lynn and I on a tour of the grounds and showed us all of her flowers and plants. As all three of us enjoy gardening we all shared our thoughts about each plant and Lynn got a start of a pretty flower to take home to Iowa. Well my word where are Cindi and John we were all thinking. "Oh no Cindi stole our Johnny boy and was off on an adventure"! And hour later they were finally back, they had a hard time getting the tank refilled. Phyllis had already finished the cooking inside so we all went in to a very delicious meal all prepared by Phyllis (you have to have her recipe for baked beans.......oh very very good!). Phyllis said grace and we ate and shared some stories. Again someone was always talking. We took some pictures after we ate which will be posted on the DN site soon. While John & Tim went to the garage and talked golf us girls talked and exchanged addresses and I looked over Lynn's pictures of renovations on her home. Also saw pictures of a tornado close to her house that she took pictures of (within two miles......yikes!) As we all gathered again in the living room we shared our thoughts on our progress and treatments and hopes. As we all were leaving I was hoping inside to myself to get with these people again someday, I was missing them already.

For not having a lot of people come...... overall I was not disappointed at the outcome. I learned a lot and met some very wonderful people. Lynn & Duke, John & Phyllis, and Cindi will always have a place in my heart.

I'm not a gifted writer so I hope I did a good enough job telling you all of our day. Hopefully John, Cindi and Lynn will share some thoughts.

Cathy H.
