WHAT
ARE THE ACTIVITIES OF THE
WESTERN RESERVE SOCIETY SAR?
The Western Reserve Society, founded in 1892, now with
more than 400 members, is one of the largest SAR chapters in the USA.
The Society meets monthly to hear speakers discuss diverse topics, generally of
patriotic or historical interest. The chapter, through its 25 committees,
has a number of outreach patriotic, historical, educational and service objectives. In
addition to activities listed elsewhere on this web page, Society members, depending
on individual special interests, also may be actively involved in:
8th Grade Good Citizenship Certificate
Program

The Western Reserve Society Sons of the American Revolution
award each year Good Citizenship Certificates to Eighth Grade Students who
demonstrate qualities of good citizenship. We believe this program can
provide incentive and stimulate admiration for good citizenship on the part of
our youth.

School Poster Contest will stimulate
interest in American History in support of
the Fourth or Fifth Grade Curriculum. The
topic for the Poster Contest will be set by
the Americanism Committee at each Spring
Trustee’s Meeting for the upcoming fall
school year. The contest will be judged at
the National Congress each year. A
representative of the National Art Education

participate in the poster judging.
